Well...yes...but that's not what this post is about (ha,ha fooled you!). Over the next two weeks you're gonna see some of my all time favorite holiday foods. And by food, I mean sweets. Today, we're gonna kick the holiday rush off right with these:
This is the best sugar cookie I have ever had. EVER.
Momma's Badass Sugar Cookies
1 C. softened Butter
1 C. powdered sugar
2 eggs
1 C. vegetable oil
2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. almond extract
4 1/2 C. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. salt
red and green sugar sprinkles
Cream butter and sugar on medium speed. Beat in eggs one at a time until fluffy. Add oil, vanilla and almond extract and beat until well mixed.
Mix dry ingredients. Gradually add flour mixture and beat until well blended. Chill dough (I've found it's best to chill overnight).
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease two large cookie sheets. Shape dough into balls. Using a plain drinking glass, rub your hand over the bottom of glass (trust me, dough is a little greasy and this makes the sugar stick) and dip glass into sugar sprinkles. Flatten ball with the bottom of your glass. Bake 8-10 minutes or until just set. Makes 4-5 dozen cookies.
Your kitchen will smell wonderful, your co-workers and family will love you and your tummy will be full of cookie bliss. Enjoy!
